It Starts With You

The Leader You're Bringing Into Every Room

Every room you walk into gets a version of you.
The question is — do you know which one you're bringing?

Most leaders have never stopped to ask that question honestly. They show up. They lead. They communicate. And they assume the version of themselves they intend to bring is the one other people actually experience. Often it's not. This workshop changes that. This isn’t motivational. It’s a mirror.

In this immersive half-day experience, Justin Patton takes leaders through the deepest version of his signature It Starts With You framework. Leaders examine how their

credibility is built or eroded in the glimpses — the small, unguarded moments people use to decide whether you're worth following. They explore the three levels of energy every person moves through and learn to recognize which level is driving their leadership, their communication, and their relationships on any given day.

Because you lead, love, and communicate on the level of your energy. And awareness is where the choice begins.

This isn't about becoming a different leader. It's about becoming a more intentional one. Leaders who complete this workshop leave with a clearer picture of who they are at their best, what gets in the way of that version showing up consistently, and what it looks like to own their presence in every room that matters. At work. At home. Everywhere in between.

It starts with you.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • Identify the three factors that determine your leadership credibility
  • Recognize what your energy level is communicating to others before you say a single word
  • Name the specific way your greatest strength becomes your biggest liability when unchecked
  • Practice the empathy framework that builds trust and connection in your most difficult conversations
  • Complete a Trust Audit to assess how others experience you

Difficult Conversations

How to Say the Hard Thing in a Way That Builds Trust Instead of Breaking It

There is a conversation you've been putting off.

You know the one. You've rehearsed it in your head a dozen times. You've talked yourself out of it just as many. And the longer you wait, the more expensive the silence gets. For the relationship. For the team. For the culture.

Most people don't avoid difficult conversations because they don't care. They avoid them because they don't know how to have them without making things worse. That fear of making it worse is what keeps people quiet, resentful, and stuck. This workshop changes that.

Because what keeps people from having these conversations isn't a lack of skill. It's a lack of relational courage. And that's exactly what this workshop builds.

In this hands-on, real-talk workshop, Justin Patton gives leaders a practical framework for navigating the conversations that matter most. Using the STEAM model — Safety, Truth, Explore, Acknowledge, Mutual Agreement — participants learn how to enter hard conversations with the right mindset, say what needs to be said with both candor and care, and leave the conversation with the relationship stronger than when they started.

Because the goal was never to win the conversation. It was to keep the relationship.

This workshop was trusted enough to take on a nine-city national tour with the Women's Foodservice Forum. It works at every level of an organization. Your reaction. Your choice.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • Shift from a battlefield mindset to a learning mindset so you enter conversations with curiosity
  • Use the STEAM model to navigate a difficult conversation that builds trust and move the relationship forward
  • Practice saying the hard thing with candor and care and receive real-time feedback
  • Leave with a personal conversation plan for the real conversation you've been putting off

Coaching for Performance

Coaching with Head and Heart

The best leaders don't have all the answers. They ask better questions.

Telling people what to do might solve today's problem. But it creates tomorrow's dependency. When a manager coaches instead of directs, something shifts. People start thinking for themselves. They own their decisions. They show up accountable instead of waiting to be told what to do next. That's what this workshop builds.

Coaching for Performance is a foundational coaching skills workshop for leaders who want to drive stronger awareness and accountability on their teams. This isn't about becoming a professional coach. It's about learning to ask the questions that change how people think and how they perform.

Led by Justin Patton, a credentialed PCC coach with the International Coach Federation, this workshop gives managers the mindset, language, and live practice to coach more effectively in the everyday moments that matter. The feedback conversations. The performance gaps. The team member who keeps hitting the same wall.

Because the managers who ask better questions build the teams that think better. And the teams that think better don't need to be told what to do. They already know.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • Recognize when to coach, when to give feedback, when to mentor, and when to refer
  • Identify how your energy, body language, and listening presence either open people up or shut them down during coaching
  • Ask questions that shift someone from stuck and reactive to thinking clearly and taking ownership
  • Demonstrate the acknowledgment skills that make people feel heard before they're willing to move forward
  • Practice a real coaching conversation and receive specific feedback on what's working and what to sharpen

Emotional intelligence Unlocked

How Leaders Who Get Real About Themselves Build the Teams and Cultures Worth Staying For

Strategic leadership isn't just about being the smartest person in the room. It's about being the most emotionally present one.

Most leaders have been told their whole career to keep emotions out of it. Stay professional. Stay objective. Stay in your head. And most leaders have watched that advice quietly damage their relationships, their teams, and their ability to lead people who actually want to follow them.

Emotional Intelligence Unlocked is where that story changes.

In this immersive, half-day workshop, Justin Patton guides leaders through a deep and honest examination of how they show up — the emotions they bring into every room, the blind spots their strengths create, and the daily choices that either build trust or slowly erode it. Using the EQ-i 2.0, the world's leading emotional intelligence assessment, participants gain a personalized picture of where they're thriving and where they're leaking the influence they think they have.

This isn't soft work. It's the hardest kind of leadership development there is. Because it asks people to get honest about themselves before they try to lead anyone else.

Leaders leave with a clear EQ action plan, a shared language for coaching and giving feedback, and a fundamentally different understanding of why how they feel determines how they lead.

Because you lead, love, and communicate on the level of your energy. This workshop helps you choose that level on purpose.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • Understand the 15 EQ competencies and how they shape the way others experience you
  • Identify your specific EQ blindspots
  • Build a shared EQ language that makes feedback, coaching, and honest conversations easier for the whole team
  • Interpret your personalized EQi 2.0 results and understand exactly what they mean for how you lead and communicate
  • Leave with a concrete EQ action plan that changes how you show up at work, at home, and in every room that matters

MANAGERS WHO BUILD TRUST

Where Managers Stop Learning About Trust and Start Practicing It

Being a manager is hard. Some days it genuinely sucks.

Nobody tells you that when they hand you the title. They tell you about the influence and the opportunity. They leave out the team member who checked out, the performance conversation you've been dreading, and the expectation you forgot to set until it was too late.

Most managers aren't struggling because they don't care. They're struggling because nobody ever gave them a real playbook and the time to practice it. This workshop is both.

Managers Who Build Trust takes the four plays from Justin Patton's signature framework and moves them from concept into practice. Managers don't just learn what great looks like. They do it. With real scenarios from their own organizations. With peer feedback on what's working and what isn't. With a clear picture of where they're leading well and where they have room to grow.

The four plays — Build Authentic Relationships, Set Clear Expectations, Lean Into Performance Conversations, and Recognize What's Right — aren't theory. They're the behaviors that separate the managers people want to work for from the ones they're quietly trying to get away from.

Great managers don't just manage people. They move people. They are the single most important factor in whether someone stays or leaves, grows or stagnates, gives their best or protects what's left.

This workshop is how organizations make great management the standard. Not the exception.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • Build an authentic relationship with a team member using proven tactics
  • Set expectations so clearly that your team could repeat them back to you - and practice doing it in real time
  • Navigate a performance conversation using a structured model and leave with personalized feedback
  • Recognize a team member in a way that is specific, meaningful, and culturally reinforcing
  • Leave with a personal manager action plan that identifies your strongest play and the one that needs the most intentional development

Stop Presenting. start connecting.

How to Find Your Real Voice and Use It to Move Any Room

The most compelling speakers in the world are not the most polished ones.

They're the most real ones. The ones who walk into a room and make you feel like they're talking directly to you. The ones whose message sticks long after they've left the stage. The ones who don't hide behind slides or jargon or performance. They just show up: honest, clear, and fully themselves. That's not a talent. It's a skill. And it's exactly what this workshop builds.

Stop Presenting. Start Connecting. is a communication workshop for leaders who want to move past delivering information and start creating genuine connection with every audience they face. Whether you're presenting to a room of three or three hundred, the principles are the same. Know your core message. Tell the truth about it. Let people see you in it.

Through live presentations, real-time coaching feedback, and a framework built around four key performance areas — relevance, engagement, delivery, and likeability — participants discover what makes their voice distinctive and learn to trust it enough to let it lead.

Because the goal was never to impress your audience. It was to reach them. And the speaker who reaches people isn't the most rehearsed one in the room. It's the most honest one.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • Identify your core message and build a presentation structure that keeps it woven throughout
  • Use storytelling to move people intellectually and emotionally
  • Deliver with the kind of authentic confidence that comes from knowing who you are and trusting that's enough
  • Receive real-time coaching feedback on your presentations so you leave knowing exactly what's working and what to sharpen
  • Let people into your world in a way that create genuine connection and makes your message impossible to forget

Read the Room

How to Flex Your Communication Style and Meet People Where They Are

After this workshop, you will never look at people the same way again.

Not your colleagues. Not your manager. Not your spouse or your kids or the person driving you crazy in every meeting. You'll see them differently. Because you'll understand something most people never figure out: everyone communicates the way they do for a reason. And when you understand the reason, you can meet them there. That's where influence lives.

Read the Room is a foundational communication styles workshop built around the DISC framework — one of the most widely used and validated tools for understanding human behavior. In this interactive session, leaders discover their own communication style, learn to quickly recognize the styles of the people around them, and practice flexing their approach to create more trust, less friction, and stronger results.

The best communicators aren't the loudest or the most confident. They're the ones who know how to adapt. Who can read a room, adjust in real time, and make the person across from them feel genuinely understood.

That skill changes every relationship you have. At work. At home. Everywhere in between. You were already influencing people. This workshop teaches you to do it on purpose.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • Understand your own DISC communication style and the specific strengths and blind spots it creates in your relationships
  • Learn to quickly identify the communication style of the people around you based on observable behavior
  • Practice flexing your style to meet others where they are rather than expecting them to adapt to you
  • Apply the DISC framework to a real relationship or team dynamic where communication has been difficult or ineffective
  • Leave with a personal communication plan that changes how you show up in your most important relationships at work and at home
